Jacqueline Samms-Borteye, Treasurer

Born in Kingston, Jamaica and raised as a ‘country girl’ in St. Thomas, Jacqui is an experienced accountant with many years devoted to developing charitable financial systems.  Her first job was with the National Commercial Bank (JA) where she spent 4 years before moving to the Treasury Department of the then Jamaica Telephone Company (now known as Flow Jamaica) for another 4 years. Jacqui migrated to the UK in 1996 to pursue accountancy studies.

In the UK,  she has held several accounting positions including Finance Manager, Income Accountant, Data Executive and Business Analyst, working in the Charitable, Commercial and Banking sectors

She holds a BA (Hons) degree in Information Systems, Certificate in Chartered Accountancy, PGCE in Computer Science amongst other Banking qualifications such as being an Associate of the Securities and Investment Institute.  She has been very instrumental in developing a very effective Gift Aid Management system for some of the charities she worked with in the UK, including her local assembly.  Alongside her husband she has helped to implement an effective educational program in 2009 called ‘Bristol Black Boys Can’  for young black men in the community, which is still being run today. She is now gainfully employed as Head of Technology at an International High School in Accra.

Jacqui has an orderly mind and a methodical way of thinking, has experience in budgeting, with an eye for detail.  She has a very open, friendly disposition and is always willing to help. She is happily married since 1997, with 5 children, three of whom are adults and one grandchild. Jacqui considers her personal relationship with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ her greatest inspiration
